Answer:  The maximum and minimum roster size for U10 teams is 10 on the minimum and 14 on the maximum.  U10 is played with 7 field players and and a goalie or 8 vs. 8.  U11 is played on with a minimum of 11 on the roster and 15 maximum, with 8 field players and a goalie for 9 vs. 9.  Both U10 and U11 play their games on a field the size of OBEN's 3rd and 4th grade field.  U12 and over have a maximum roster size of 18 and play traditional 11 vs. 11 field arrangement.

Answer: U9 children can play on a U10 soccer team in a process called playing up.  LIJ registered teams are limited to only 1/3 of the team playing up but if you feel your child is looking for more competition then having he/she play up will provide that.

Answer:  OBEN soccer club will announce a competitive tryout for travel players within a certain age group on our web site, by direct mail, word of mouth and on LIJ soccer's web page.  At the designated time prospective players will show up and an independent evaluator selected and paid by OBEN will conduct a tryout session.  The team coach will be present to speak with parents and to coordinate the tryout.  The trainer/evaluator then ranks the children from 1 to however many are at the tryout out.  If there are several tryouts they do the same thing each day.  The coach then decides how many children (1-12) or (1-14) they want on the roster, selects the top children and notifies them they have made the team.  Each child/parent then meets with the coach to discuss expatiation levels and practice times and commits to the team.  If a child/parent cannot commit to the team's practice schedule, the coach then selects the next highest ranked player from the tryout list.  All team formation, fees and registration forms must be filed with LIJ by the 1st of July.
